Opened 15.9.27 by George Green Ltd. Architect John Fairweather, seating 4,368 - the largest cinema in Europe. Closed 30.6.73. Reopened as Apollo cinema/concert hall, 8.9.73-16.6.85. Demolished 9.87, and the UGC / Cineword Megaplex built on the same site.
