Shiprow / 35, Union St

Opened in July 1954 after construction had been halted by WWII. Architect CJ Foster completed and modernised earlier plans by WR Glen. Original seating. 1,914. Tripled in June 1974, seating 580; 150; 140.  Closed January 1998. Demolished, and Lighthouse multiplex cinema built on the same site.

The Union St entrance was basically a long corridor, whereas the side entrance on the Shiprow was two-tiered, with a side stair to a mezzanine with balcony, under which was the pay desk. Despite this, the foyer wasn't particularly high.
